An estimated 450 million people worldwide suffer from mental illnesses, and most them do not receive care. One of the major barriers to care is social stigma associated with mental illness. To ensure the lasting health and overall well-being of those who suffer from mental illness, we need to overcome our biases and encourage those suffering to speak on their struggles and barriers.
This Is My Brave, Inc. is one platform that is giving voice to those suffering from mental illness and helping to change the long-held stigma. The Mission of “This is My Brave” is to end the stigma surrounding mental health issues by sharing personal stories of individuals living successful, full lives despite mental illness through poetry, essay and original music, on stage in front of a live audience, through stories submitted and published to their blog, and via their YouTube channel.
You can see Jeanne at the Fort Lauderdale “This is My Brave” Live Show on April 8, 2018 at 2 pm at the Sunrise Civic Center Theater at 10610 West Oakland Park Boulevard, Sunrise, FL 33351.
