It's St. Patrick's Day! And, it's a day known for people wearing their green attire…
Tea Party Impact on Guests
We know about the Tea Party impact on our guests. This is what Jeanne Albaugh, founder and CEO of Showering Love, said after the tea party, “I received two calls from guests on Mother’s Day before I had even heard from my own boys! First, Lourdes called and started crying, saying she felt so loved and she had never celebrated Mother’s Day before! Can you imagine?! And then Sommer called and said that she was now going to church after trying to describe the day to a friend. She was overcome with tears as she wished me Happy Mother’s Day. I was moved to tears myself!
All my sons did call me that day. A lot has happened in 8 years! I still remember how painful Mother’s Day was without my kids. Today I have my sons in my life. I am so grateful. This is why I do what I do to help others.”
Here’s What Scarlette and Judi Said
We got some great input from our volunteer mentors. Here’s a message from Scarlette: “Today was one of those memories that will be etched in my soul forever. Showering Love is a group of extraordinary human beings that lift up the homeless in ways that change their lives and offer them love in ACTION. This Mother’s Day Weekend offered a group of women the gift of showers, business attire, salon services, meditation, resume assistance and mentorship for a day that may very well change the course of their lives, giving them HOPE and “Showering” them with respect and dignity. Being a part of this day, was one of the most humbling experiences of my life.” What a Tea Party impact!!
And from Judi, “I had the opportunity to learn and love with ladies experiencing challenges and struggles in our community. The mentors are handpicked by Jeanne herself. I have determined now after two Teas that the mentors are getting just as much out of the experience as the Mentees. They have all overcome struggles too and have a path to share with their Mentees; how homelessness and helplessness can be overcome. There is an out. You are not alone. We are all the same. Circumstances can change in a day. When I heard that one of our guests had worked on Wall Street at one time, it just reminded me again how we can all be one day, decision or circumstance away from living on the street.”
And Here’s the Impact on Shirley and Kathy
Here’s what Shirley had to say about how she reacted to the Tea Party impact: “I am so grateful to have been a Mentor at Showering Love’s 2nd Annual Mother’s Day Tea Party. Because of your amazing love, courage, fighting spirit, unselfishness and dignity, I’m able to share love, strength and hope with other women.” And Kathy says, “I was deeply moved and changed by this experience. I am full of compassion and gratitude.”
Finally, we are so full of gratitude for these women who gave of themselves so unselfishly! Thank you to all who participated!
