Most of us take for granted the simple pleasure of showering before we get ready each day to go out into the world. For those who are without shelter, the basics of showering and grooming, are as valued as food. Why? Because every successful day starts with having dignity in yourself.
Continually keeping tabs on our community’s health and welfare, Signature Gives Back (SGB), the philanthropic arm of The Signature Real Estate Companies, is proud to participate with Showering Love for SGB’s coined “Father’s Day Honor Our Citizens” event on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at First Baptist Church Pompano Beach, 138 N.E. 1st St., Pompano Beach, FL. To be held from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., all are welcome to participate in this free event.
Each attendee served in the event will receive toiletries, free haircuts and showers and a healthy dose of comradery from SGB volunteers, who also serve as incredible resource finders in the community, from vocational and housing advice to senior placement solutions.
Showering Love’s Founder/President, Jeanne Albaugh, speaks from knowing. She spent 10 years of homelessness, a result of spiraling health concerns that left her destitute and without contact with her children. Her story is a powerful testament that homelessness is not a choice, but more likely the aftershock of a series of debilitating events.
Event Chair John Goss, Board of Directors member for Signature Gives Back, says “The founder and CEO, who spent 10 years of her life on the street, has never turned away another. After talking with Jeanne at length, I felt it was really important that we step in to help.”
Showering Love, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was created to restore dignity and hope to people experiencing homelessness with weekly showers to inspire the desire for self-sufficiency. Showering Love exists for one single purpose: to help the homeless return to productive and happy lives. For more info to participate in SGB’s event, please call 561-809-1125 to register. You too will be helping SGB fulfill our mantra to “Be the Change You Wish to See in The World.”
