Second Chance Society (SCS) was founded in 2001 by Ms. Pat Owen. Ingrained within the wording of the SCS Mission Statement lay its’ primary purpose which is to help homeless and struggling individuals return to a state of self-sufficiency. With self-sufficiency comes a general state of well-being, self-worth, revitalization, and most importantly, hope. Second Chance Society has assisted over 4800 men and women since its inception and has become a well-known and beloved entity within the Continuum of Care for the Homeless.
When thinking about a Keynote Speaker for our Spring Fellowship Dinner, Ms. Jeanne Lewis-Albaugh, CEO & Founder of Showering Love came to our minds and our hearts! Having heard her story at the “This Is My Brave” performance held in April, we knew that hers was a story that absolutely must be shared with the community, and for that matter, with the entire world!
It is a story of great pain and despair, and also a story of great hope and promise! What Jeanne has experienced would cause most people to possibly become a statistic, but with the help of God, Jeanne prevailed and rose up and out of homelessness only to become the Founder & CEO of her amazing organization, Showering Love!
It is truly not possible to describe Jeanne Lewis-Albaugh but to say she is a Warrior, a Fighter, an Advocate of Love whose heart beats fiercely and steadily for our homeless and whose hands are ever reaching to take hold of the hand of a lost soul and love them back to life. Jeanne Lewis-Albaugh is simply a miracle walking!
