Lighthouse Storage of Cooper City has given Showering Love an incredible and generous Christmas gift…
Memorial Healthcare Comes Aboard
Memorial Healthcare sent a team of volunteers and sponsored the bus for a day last Saturday. Hope filled the day!! We provided 32 showers and each guest left with a new t-shirt, new undergarment, and new socks (courtesy of Bombas). They also received love bags with hygiene products such as trial sizes of deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, shaving cream and razors. These small sizes are just right for them to put in their backpacks!!
A Ladder Member Shares
One of the volunteers was Karen Lanier, a physical therapist who wrote this for us: “What a blessing it was to be a part of today’s event! I have seen churches provide clothing and food drives for the homeless, but the shower bus was mind blowing! The anticipation of the recipients to get on for just a few moments was heart piercing. Then to top it off, they were able to get their hair washed and cut. I was delighted with how everyone pulled together to provide comprehensive comfort to those in need. Hot food, snacks, showers, haircut, bus passes – these gifts are awesome. But the best gifts were the hugs, laughs, prayers and words of encouragement that I witnessed. What a blessing to be a blessing!”
Thank you to Memorial Healthcare for sending us this great team! Karen Schiff, another member of the group, said that she felt we had saved some lives today. Karen knew just what to do when a young lady showed up who needed some specialized help. She took the girl to the place where that help was available. Thanks to Karen for going the extra mile.
And there was more good news! A construction worker drove up and needed some helpers for the day and so 2 of our guests were able to jump in!
Grace Is ADA Compliant
Do you know that our bUS, Grace, is ADA compliant? We are wheelchair accessible! And, because Memorial Healthcare sponsored her for the day, one of our guests got a well-deserved shower!
Mobile Barbers On Board
In addition, Tafari Alexander brought his Mobile Barbershop, and his mom to be barber of the day! They were really cuttin’ it up!!
Thanks To All Who Helped
At the end of the day, ours guests left well-fed, clean, and well-groomed. Thanks to First Baptist Church, Mobile Barbershop, and most of all, Memorial Healthcare! You really stepped up to bring Hope and Dignity up the Ladder!
