Jeanne Albaugh

President/Founder

From an early age, a profound empathy for those facing adversity has been a guiding force in Jeanne’s life. Her journey, marked by compassion and personal challenges, culminated in the establishment of Showering Love.

Over three decades ago, while volunteering to feed the hungry on the bustling streets of New York City, Jeanne was struck by a vision. It was a vision of a tractor-trailer, not just filled with provisions but equipped with showers, a washer, and a dryer, ready to serve those in need at curbside. However, life had its own plans in store.

Through a series of unfortunate choices, Jeanne’s path led her from the bustling streets of Park Avenue to a park bench, where she experienced homelessness firsthand. She wandered from place to place, seeking shelter wherever she could find it. Holding a sign beneath a bridge, she begged for money, and while kind-hearted individuals generously provided food and financial assistance, there was one essential element missing: a place to shower. As time went by, her hygiene and personal appearance suffered, and she became the embodiment of the stereotypical image of a homeless individual.

In the midst of those long, lonely, and desolate nights, filled with feelings of despair and abandonment, a spark of determination flickered to life. One day, Jeanne found the inner motivation to embark on a transformative journey from homelessness to hope, from despair to action. She seized the opportunities offered by various programs dedicated to supporting the homeless and began the arduous process of addressing her challenges one by one. Step by step, this journey led her toward self-sufficiency and a revitalized sense of purpose.

This profound personal transformation fuels the mission of Showering Love. Jeanne intimately understands the profound impact of belief and support. Committed to sharing hope with those experiencing homelessness, she demonstrates that with compassion, community, and unwavering determination, a brighter future is well within reach.
