Father’s Day 2019

“We’ve Got Your Back” – Father’s Day 2019

On June 15th we celebrated Father’s Day 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Pompano Beach with Signature Realtors as sponsors.  We want to thank John Goss and Dana Levy for all their hard work to make this Signature Give Back a huge success!!  We told homeless fathers, “We’ve Got Your Back” with new backpacks that they could fill.  With help from volunteers, our guests were able to choose sunscreen, chap-stick, hand sanitizer, rain gear, sunglasses and more!  We gave out 125 backpacks!  They were so happy to be prepared for our hot wet South Florida summer! Our volunteers asked each recipient a question, and in that way made a personal connection with the guest they were serving.  Hands On Broward donated 100 filled backpacks!  Thank you!

First Baptist provided a hot meal and we handed out over 100 snack bags and MRE’s.  Erica was there with Care Plus helping people get signed up for health insurance.  Father’s Day 2019 was under way!

“Kicking Homelessness to the Curb!”

In addition, we “Kicked Homelessness to the Curb” with a rousing game of kickball!  Arvis Lawson, CEO and founder of Fanit, coached the teams and it was great fun for all!  Our own CEO and founder, Jeanne Albaugh made the only home run of the day, after she slid into second base!!  Father’s Day was fun for everybody!

Barbers Pablo Guerrero, his friend Justus and Danny Janes all came to make these men look and feel great!  A shower and a haircut will do that for a dad in need!  We provided 32 showers and you gave 35 haircuts! You gentlemen made a real difference – thank you!

Water, Water Everywhere!

Sam’s Club donated 15 cases of water – it’s a good thing!  It was hot out there for our Father’s Day event this year!!

We were so grateful for all this water!

The volunteers from Signature Realtors , the donations from Temple Beth Emet, Tikiz Ice Cream truck, Fanit, and so many others made this wonderful Father’s Day happen!  One of the volunteers, Dana Levy, had this to say after the event:

Thank you to my Signature Family and their families for joining Signature Gives Back and Showering Love for an immensely gratifying day for our Father’s Day event in Pompano Beach. We got up close and personal with the people suffering homelessness. That connection to them has left an indelible mark of gratitude for what I have, my station in life. I urge you all, next time you see someone on the streets, homeless, share a smile and do what you can to help “give them a hand up, not a hand out.” Special thanks to my Event Co-Chair John Goss, and to Jeanne Albaugh of Showering Love. This event was transformative.

Thank you to all who participated!
